The most well-known of Paris landmarks, Eiffel Tower looks absolutely amazing in the evening and every hour the lights on it twinkle. The Eiffel Tower is a massive building in Paris, it has a lovely view of the surrounding areas. It has shop that sell various items. You can climb up the Tower on the stairs, but if you want to go all the way to the top you will have to use the lift.
Notre Dame is a great place to visit in Paris. At day or night, it’s always pretty, got a new angle or perspective for you to see, and buskers and people hanging around.
The architecture is stunning and the place itself is quite overwhelming. You can light a candle and say a prayer for loved ones inside. Such a peaceful, melancholy place. Go to the top and view the gargoyles at close hand=)
A must see for any one visiting Paris, though since it is at the top of the Champs-Elysees it is hard to miss when doing the grand tour of the city. It’s on the other side of the avenue from the Place de la Concorde.
Below the monument is the tomb of the unknown soldier with a flame to commemorate the dead soldiers of WWI.
Above the monument is a great view of Paris, especially when the Champs are decorated and illuminated.
Sacre-Coeur has in past times been the subject of much controversy. It has been called “a lunatic’s confectionery dream” and Emile Zola dubbed it “the basilica of the ridiculous.” Of course, it is barely 150 years old, and every generation will mock contemporary architecture. What will they say about that ghastly glass thing at the Louvre in 100 years’ time?
The views from up there - La Butte de Montmartre - are legendary, and even better if you can get up into the gallery around the inner dome, a stunning spectacle that some say is even better than the interior of Sacre-Coeur itself.
The great thing about Paris is that even if you would normally never set foot inside a church not only will you do it here but you will love the experience, totally!
The Trocadero is one of the areas tourists do not want to miss, for the good reason that it has an amazing view over Paris. The square itself has a few pleasant cafes but the show is on the other side of the monument, where the view above the fountains plunges onto the Eiffel tower and the center of the city.
Pont des Arts is a studio en plein air for painters, artists and photographers today, who are drawn to its unique point-of-view. Furthermore, the Pont des Arts is frequently a spot for picnics during the summer.
Most prestigious avenue in paris with a wide array of luxury shops for retail and cars.
Don’t miss one of the largest Louis Vuitton one the street and feast your eyes at the luxury cars paraded on the streets and in the shops. You’ll be mesmorised by the grandious architecture along this avenue, one end overlooks the Arc de Triomphe and the other is the Palais de l’Elysee.
The famous jewlers of Paris. You can look without buying, dreaming of possessing the biggest diamond, no problem. Its worth spending five minutes dreaming about unobtainable jewelry in this beautiful square. With a bit of patience or luck, you might even catch a fleeting glance of some rich Ritz celebrity. Another opportunity to dream and to take a cliched photograph.
Forget Notre Dame, go see Sainte Chapelle, which is a thousand times more beautiful. You enter through the lower level (for the lower classes) and think ‘What? Is this it?’. You turn to leave and almost by chance you discover to your left the narrow staircase leading to the main church space on the first floor. And then you are amazed at the colours. The church seems to be made predominantly out of windows. Fantastic.
Pere Lachaise is one of the most famous cemeteries in the world. Located in the 20th arrondissement, it is reputed to be the world’s most-visited cemetery, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually to the graves of those who have enhanced French life over the past 200 years. It is also the site of three World War I memorials.
